Who We Are

Steph

Steph Cooper

Steph Cooper has spent more than 30 years of her life working with dogs. She is an accomplished dog trainer and her passion has always been to work with dogs with problems. Steph has volunteered for multiple shelters and rescues and has seen first hand what works and what doesn’t. Her knowledge and skills as a trainer have saved the lives of numerous dogs that were deemed by some to be unadoptable. Steph and her friend Chris started Lead and Love Dog Rescue in 2012. Lead and Love is now partnered with 6 shelters in Oregon and California and looks forward to more partnerships in the future. Chris has retired but Steph remains as Board President and volunteer in charge of the Lead and Love Program.

Kathleen Curtis

Kathleen Curtis is Vice President of Lead and Love Dog Rescue and is the volunteer in charge of the Helping Hounds Program. Kathleen grew up in a rural part of Central Oregon and has always been surrounded by animals. Her extensive work with the elderly sparked our Helping Hounds Program. This program helps senior citizens in our community when they are required to stay in the hospital and have no one to look after their dogs. Kathleen is our “go-to” gal when it comes to difficult rescue situations. She is not afraid to knock down doors if she feels that an animal might be suffering. To say that Kathleen is a valuable resource to our organization would not be enough. She is much more and we are so lucky to have her.

Brenda

Brenda and Kerry Andrist

Brenda is our Secretary/Treasurer and rockstar foster mom! Brenda and her husband Kerry have had dogs their entire lives. They understand the value a wonderful pet can add to a home. They have a magical way with the small, nervous dogs. It seems that if they stay with Brenda and Kerry they come out of their shell quickly and find their forever home right away. Brenda and Kerry have fostered 20 dogs for Lead and Love and continue to look forward to helping more homeless dogs find their forever families. Whether it takes days, months, weeks or years! They are highly committed to every rescue dog that enters their home. They are both an integral part of our team. We don’t know what we would do without them!
